German Brats & Kraut

  • 6 Sliced Grateful Harvest Bacon - Meat Dept.
  • 1 Small Organic Onion, chopped - Produce
  • 1 Organic Local Garlic Clove, minced - Produce
  • 32oz. Eden Organic Sauerkraut, rinsed & drained - Aisle 3
  • 2 Medium Organic Potatoes, peeled & sliced - Produce
  • 1 Tsp. Celifiber Chicken Bouillon - Aisle 2
  • 1 Tsp. Frontier Organic Caraway Seeds - Bulk Herbs & Spices
  • 1/2 Cup Santa Cruz Apple Juice - Aisle 4
  • 1 Tbsp. Hain Organic Brown Sugar - Aisle 2
  • 1 lb. Beeler's Bratwurst - Freezers

In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium-high heat until crisp. Crumble & set aside. Reserve 2 Tbsp. drippings in skillet. cook onion & garlic over med. high heat, until tender. Stir in kraut, taters, water, juice, sugar, bouillon, caraway, & bay leaf. Add 1/2 Cup more water to cover potatoes & bring to boil. Score bratwurst & add to kraut mix, reduce heat. Cover & simmer for 20-30 min. Stir occasionally. Add sliced apple, cover & cook for 10 min. Remove bay leaf & serve.
