Central Kentucky Radio Eye

Central Kentucky Radio Eye (Radio Eye) is a nonprofit 24-hour Radio Reading Service. The service broadcasts throughout Central Kentucky, the Louisville Metro Area, and surrounding counties, providing the reading of newspapers, magazines, and other necessary literature for people who are blind, have low vision, or are physically disabled (including injury and illness), who are unable to access printed news and information.

Radio Eye's dedicated volunteers read aloud local and regional news from over 20 publications including the Lexington Herald Leader, the Louisville Courier Journal, and more including readings from over 60 national publications.

Thanks to our generous shoppers, Good Foods Market & Café donated $854.53 to Books as Bridges, our November/December Give Where You Live Partner.


As part of our commitment to the community, Good Foods Market & Café partners with a local nonprofit organization for a two month period to raise money for and awareness of the group's work in the community. The Give Where You Live program is designed for organizations which promote social change in the areas of peace, human rights, and human needs. Good Foods donates 10 cents per transaction with a reusable bag to the Give Where You Live Partner. Donations made by shoppers at the register are matched with 25% of the total amount collected and presented to the organization.

What is the Give Where You Live Program?
As part of our commitment to our community, Good Foods Market & Café partners with a local nonprofit organization for a two month period to raise money for and awareness of the group's work in the community

How does Good Foods Market & Café support the organization?
Education:
•    Signs at the registers.
•    Information on Good Foods website.
•    Information in our monthly e-newsletter.
•    Press release.
Dollars:
•    Donations by shoppers at the register.
•    Good Foods will donate 10¢ per transaction with a reusable bag(s) to the Give Where You Live partner.
•    At month’s end, Good Foods will add 25% to the total amount donated from shoppers and present it to the organization.

Who is eligible?
Local organizations with a 501C3 nonprofit status. Organizations are eligible to apply for the program every two years.
We are looking for organizations that provide these services:
•    Food for people in need.
•    Education on self-sufficiency and improved lifestyles.
•    Education on environmental issues and concerns, or to assist in clean up or preservation of the environment.
•    Educational programs for youth.
•    Supportive services or emergency shelter of those in need.
•    Promote social change in the areas of peace, human rights and human needs.
